Hoodlums Attack AMBO Wife’s Convoy

The convoy of Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, was attacked by suspected hoodlums during a campaign visit in Ede, Osun State.

The attack occurred while Mrs. Oyebamiji was leading a mobilisation tour across different parts of Ede to seek support for her husband’s governorship ambition ahead of the 2026 election. The campaign was said to have progressed peacefully before the convoy was suddenly confronted by a group of hoodlums, creating panic among party members and residents in the area.

During the attack, several members of the campaign team were forced to run for safety as the assailants reportedly damaged vehicles in the convoy and disrupted the exercise. The violence also left the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ede with injuries after he was caught in the attack. He was later taken for medical attention, while other members of the campaign team escaped with minor injuries and shock.

The incident interrupted the campaign activities and caused confusion in the community as supporters dispersed to avoid further violence. Witnesses said the attackers fled the scene shortly after carrying out the assault, leaving behind damaged vehicles and injured victims.

Following the attack, the APC condemned the incident and described it as an attempt to intimidate its members and disrupt its campaign ahead of the governorship election. The party called on security agencies to launch a thorough investigation, arrest those responsible and ensure they are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The party also appealed to law enforcement agencies to provide better security for political campaigns and other public gatherings across the state. It maintained that every political party should be allowed to carry out its activities without fear of violence or harassment.

The attack has added to growing concerns over political violence in Osun State as preparations for the 2026 governorship election continue. In recent weeks, there have been reports of clashes involving political supporters in different parts of the state, raising fears that tensions could increase as political campaigns gather momentum.

Residents and political observers have continued to call for restraint among political actors, urging all parties and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and avoid actions capable of threatening public safety or disrupting the electoral process.
