Taraba PDP Governorship Candidate Endorses Tinubu, Unveils Running Mate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Taraba State, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, has declared that his party will work to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Bwacha made the pledge on Sunday in Jalingo shortly after introducing Engr. Aminu Zakari as his running mate for the governorship election. The former Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate said President Tinubu remained the right person to continue leading Nigeria, expressing confidence that the President would enjoy massive support in Taraba State.

According to him, Tinubu’s administration has taken practical steps to address the country’s security challenges, implement economic reforms and execute infrastructure projects across different parts of Nigeria.

He also expressed optimism that the President would emerge victorious in Taraba without the need for extensive political campaigns in the state.

Speaking on security, Bwacha said criminal groups had continued to test the nation’s security system. However, he commended the Federal Government for strengthening intelligence cooperation with international partners, including the United States, as part of efforts to tackle insecurity.

The PDP governorship candidate also turned his attention to Taraba State’s finances, raising concerns over what he described as the growing debt profile despite the steady flow of federal allocations to the state.

Bwacha questioned the state government’s spending, challenging it to identify any capital project worth at least ₦10 billion that had been completed within the last three years. He restated an earlier promise to withdraw from the governorship race if such a project could be presented.

Explaining his choice of running mate, Bwacha said Engr. Zakari was selected because of his competence, experience and integrity rather than political calculations.

He said leadership should be based on ability, good character and commitment to public service instead of personal interests or political connections.

Bwacha added that choosing Zakari also reflected his belief in giving younger and capable individuals opportunities to serve, warning that meaningful leadership renewal would remain difficult if qualified young people were continually denied responsibility.

He maintained that his administration, if elected, would focus on capable leadership and policies aimed at improving governance and development in Taraba State.
