President Bola Tinubu on Monday launched the construction of the access road linking Tungan Madaki to the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway through Zuba, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and better connect satellite communities within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the President said the project forms part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to ensure that communities outside Abuja city receive the same level of infrastructure development as residents of the capital.

Tinubu said the road project is part of a wider plan to improve transportation, connect communities, encourage business activities and create more investment opportunities across the FCT.

He explained that the new road continues the development of the Bill Clinton Drive to Tungan Madaki Community Road, which was commissioned a few weeks earlier during activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
According to the President, the road network is gradually expanding, creating stronger links between communities and supporting long-term development.
Tinubu noted that residents of Tungan Madaki, Zuba and neighbouring communities, especially farmers, traders and students, have faced years of poor road conditions that affected movement, increased transport expenses and limited business opportunities.
He said the new road will provide a direct connection to the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, reduce travel time, lower vehicle maintenance costs and make it easier to move people, farm produce and other goods.
The President added that improving road infrastructure remains a key part of his administration’s economic agenda because it supports economic growth, security and social development.
He also said the project would reduce traffic congestion within Abuja city, provide alternative routes for commuters and strengthen economic activities between the FCT, Kaduna and other parts of the North-West.
Tinubu expressed confidence that improved road infrastructure would attract more investment in housing, healthcare, education and industrial development along the route.
He commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for accelerating infrastructure projects across the FCT, saying the administration is making steady progress by completing projects instead of abandoning them.

The President also directed the contractor handling the project to deliver quality work within the agreed timeline while engaging local workers to create employment opportunities for young people in the area.
Earlier, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the road project followed Tinubu’s directive that satellite towns and area councils should be properly linked to Abuja through modern road networks.
Wike explained that the project was approved after the Chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council requested a direct road connecting Zuba to Abuja to reduce the difficulties residents face while travelling.
He said the completed road would allow people living in Zuba and nearby communities to travel more easily to Abuja city and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport without passing through Gwagwalada.
The minister described the project as another step in opening up rural communities and improving the living conditions of residents.
Wike expressed confidence that the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), would complete the road before the end of the year.
He added that the FCT Administration is working closely with the contractor to ensure the project is ready for commissioning by December.
In her vote of thanks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, said the road project demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to extending infrastructure and economic opportunities to communities that have received limited attention in the past.
She noted that the road would improve transportation, support business activities, attract investment and improve the lives of residents in Tungan Madaki, Zuba and surrounding communities.
Mahmoud added that the project reflects the determination of the FCT Administration to ensure that every community benefits from the ongoing development of the nation’s capital.
She also thanked President Tinubu for providing the leadership that continues to drive infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
