Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has named Murtala Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, confirming that the current deputy governor will remain on the ticket for another term.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf disclosed the decision during a meeting with federal political appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

The governor said the decision followed Garo’s loyalty, dedication and commitment to the growth and development of Kano State since he took office as deputy governor.

According to Yusuf, he remains satisfied with his choice of Garo as deputy governor and believes he has performed well in the role over the past months.
He said he has full confidence in Garo and considers him a reliable partner in the administration.
Yusuf added that the deputy governor has continued to support the government’s efforts to carry out projects and programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents across Kano State.
The governor also appealed to party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united as his administration builds on its achievements and prepares for the 2027 governorship election.
