The Edo Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Preye Bedford, disclosed this on Friday in Benin City during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Bedford, the command was left out of the election arrangements because it did not receive any official invitation from the relevant election authorities or stakeholders.

He explained that, as a result, the FRSC would not be involved in any aspect of the electoral process.

The sector commander also spoke on the restriction of movement scheduled to last from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on election day.

He said the corps would suspend its normal operations during the restriction period.

Bedford added that the command would monitor developments before deciding whether any traffic management measures would be required.

The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) has approved 12 political parties to contest the local government election across the state’s 18 local government areas.
