DSS officials, soldiers, and police personnel were deployed across key entry points amid rising tension over planned protests linked to recent school abductions in Oyo State.

Movement was restricted along routes from the Federal Secretariat, Supreme Court axis, National Assembly, and Asokoro area.

Only residents, government officials, and individuals with valid clearance were allowed through the security checkpoints, as surveillance increased across the capital’s power corridor.

The deployment followed a planned protest by activist Omoyele Sowore and members of the African Action Congress, who had vowed to march to the Presidential Villa over the continued captivity of abducted pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.

The demonstration call came after earlier street protests in Abuja.

Sowore had maintained that the protest would continue until the victims were rescued, insisting that government must take stronger action against insecurity.

Authorities have not issued an official statement on the security lockdown, but the heavy presence of armed personnel caused delays and traffic disruption in parts of the city.
