FCTA Issues Warnings To Facility Owners Over Illegal Use

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has warned owners of event centres, hotels and other public buildings in Abuja against allowing illegal organisations to use their facilities.

It said any property linked to such activities risks losing its title documents.

The warning was issued on Friday through the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka.

The administration said land allocations in the territory are meant strictly for lawful purposes.
It stated that going forward, event centres and hotels would be closely monitored to ensure they are not used for gatherings that could disturb peace in the capital.
Owners were advised to confirm the legality of groups before renting out their spaces.
The FCTA added that in the current political period, facility owners must deal only with recognised political party leadership as approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
It warned that failure to comply could lead to revocation of property titles.
