Her withdrawal follows reports that the party will not hold primaries for the Senate seat in the FCT.

Yesufu had earlier shown interest in the senatorial position and had begun consultations and outreach across the six area councils of the territory.

She was building support within the party before the latest development changed the direction of the race.

The decision emerged after the NDC reportedly chose not to conduct primaries for the Senate seat while planning elections for the House of Representatives.

There are also claims that another aspirant, Amanda Pam, may have been selected through a consensus arrangement, though this has not been confirmed by the party.

Yesufu urged her supporters to stay calm and continue focusing on broader political goals ahead of the general elections.

She also thanked her backers for their support during her campaign efforts across the FCT.
