APC Members Protest Alleged Fake Results

Confusion broke out across Kwara State on Friday after members of the All Progressives Congress accused party officials of preparing governorship primary results without conducting voting.

Aggrieved members alleged that figures were being compiled in favour of the governor’s preferred aspirant in several local government areas.

The development triggered anger among party supporters who had gathered for the exercise.

Party members said they were informed earlier that voting would begin after Jumat prayers across the 16 local government areas.

However, many claimed no accreditation or voting process took place before alleged results started appearing.

Some members described the exercise as a planned arrangement designed to produce a predetermined outcome.

Before the primary, the chairman of the election committee, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, assured party stakeholders that the process would be free, fair and transparent.

He said the committee had met with aspirants in Ilorin and promised that voting materials would be distributed before prayers.

He also maintained that the committee was fully prepared to conduct a credible election if consensus failed.

Despite those assurances, party members in different areas continued to insist that no proper voting happened as of Friday afternoon.

The controversy has raised fresh questions about the credibility of the primary and whether the outcome will be accepted by all factions within the party ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
