Nurses Forum Demands Action Over Abductions
The Elegant Nurses Forum has condemned the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the incident as another sign of rising insecurity in the country.
The group also expressed sadness over the killing of one of the abducted teachers during the attack.
The organisation said 39 students and seven teachers were taken when armed men invaded schools in the area, leaving families in fear and uncertainty.
It noted that many of the victims are still being held, while relatives continue to struggle with emotional distress.
The forum criticised the handling of security issues in the country, saying more urgent action is needed to protect lives and prevent repeated attacks.
It also raised concerns over the integration of individuals described as repentant into security agencies, warning that it could weaken public confidence.
The group called for stronger rescue operations and a review of national security strategies to curb further incidents.
It also urged support for affected families and better protection for students and workers in vulnerable areas.
