Why You Shouldn’t Believe Obi’s One Term Promise – Presidency
The Presidency has urged Nigerians not to trust Peter Obi’s promise to serve only one term if elected president.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga made the remark on Thursday while reacting to Obi’s recent political statements ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a post shared on X, Onanuga questioned Obi’s credibility and pointed to his past movements across political parties.
He recalled that Obi once pledged loyalty to the All Progressives Grand Alliance before later leaving the party for the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Presidency also argued that Obi’s history of switching political platforms had weakened confidence in his public promises.
Onanuga claimed the former Anambra State governor had repeatedly changed political alliances despite earlier commitments to remain loyal.
Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party after leaving the PDP.
He has recently been linked to talks involving opposition figures seeking a coalition ahead of the next general election.
