The doctors alleged that the funds were being withheld in bank accounts for long periods before eventual release.

Several house officers working in federal hospitals said newly employed doctors often spend months without pay despite handling medical duties daily.

They claimed the delayed salaries usually arrive in bulk after long waiting periods, while some payments still remain outstanding.

The affected doctors described the situation as harsh and frustrating as many struggle with rent, feeding, transport and other living expenses.

They said the delays have pushed several young doctors into debt at a time when the cost of living continues to rise across the country.

The complaints have added to growing concerns about the welfare of healthcare workers in Nigeria.

Many doctors said the repeated delays, poor working conditions and financial pressure are worsening the migration of medical professionals to foreign countries.
