Wike Backed PDP Rejects Ibadan Alliance Claims
The Nyesom Wike-backed National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has denied any alliance with the Allied Peoples Movement over the political gathering held in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Party leaders described reports linking the PDP to the event as false and unauthorised.
Speaking in Abuja, PDP spokesman Jungudo Mohammed said the party had no agreement or coalition with the APM or any other political group.
He accused associates of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of trying to create a false impression of political strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
The faction also claimed the Ibadan gathering was connected to Makinde’s alleged political movement towards the APM.
It maintained that PDP members and aspirants still recognise the leadership structure led by Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel Anyanwu.
The group further disclosed that legal steps had begun against some party figures over alleged impersonation of PDP leadership.
The latest dispute comes after the Supreme Court nullified the PDP convention held in Ibadan, deepening divisions within the opposition party.
