CSOs Plan Abuja Protest Over Missing N26bn

A coalition of civil society groups has announced plans to stage a protest in Abuja next Tuesday over the alleged disappearance of N26.9 billion from the Universal Service Provision Fund under the Tinubu administration.

The groups said the action followed concerns raised in the Auditor-General’s report about missing public funds and questionable transactions linked to the agency.

The coalition, operating under the name Coalition of Civil Society for Transparency and Accountability, said the protest scheduled for May 19 would push for accountability from officials managing the telecommunications intervention fund.

The groups accused authorities of failing to properly explain the whereabouts of the money.
The organisations also demanded that the Minister of Communications, Dr Bosun Tijani, and the Secretary of the USPF, Yomi Arowosafe, publicly explain the allegations.
They called for an independent investigation into contracts, payments and other transactions flagged in the Auditor-General’s report released in September 2025.
The coalition warned that failure to address the allegations could weaken public trust and deny underserved communities the benefits meant to come from the fund.
The groups added that anyone found responsible should face prosecution, while any missing money should be recovered and returned to government accounts.
