Atiku Questions Tinubu Over Security Strategy

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has attacked President Bola Tinubu’s security approach after former House of Representatives member, Abba Adamu, died in kidnappers’ custody.

Adamu was abducted along the Abuja-Kaduna highway on May 3 and reportedly died nine days later despite attempts by his family to secure his freedom.

Atiku said the incident reflects the worsening insecurity across Nigeria, accusing the Federal Government of failing to protect lives and property.

He said ordinary Nigerians now live in fear as kidnappings continue on highways, farms and within communities across the country.

The former vice president questioned the effectiveness of the government’s security strategy, noting that attacks persist despite repeated promises from security agencies and huge spending on defence.

He said the Abuja-Kaduna route has remained dangerous despite years of assurances from authorities.

He also called for urgent and practical action to tackle insecurity, insisting that Nigerians need visible results rather than repeated official statements.

Atiku extended condolences to the family of the late ex-lawmaker and urged the government to treat insecurity as a national emergency.
