Wike Sets Tough Deadline For Abuja Projects

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has warned contractors in Abuja to meet strict deadlines, saying projects scheduled for inauguration during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary must be completed without delay.

He gave the directive during an inspection of ongoing works across the capital.

During the visit, Wike expressed concern over delays on a road project in Wuse, insisting that the timeline must not shift beyond June.

He said the administration was actively monitoring progress on-site to ensure quality and timely delivery, rather than relying on reports.
He, however, commended contractors handling major projects such as the N16 interchange and the Institutions and Research Centre, noting that their work was progressing well and would be ready for commissioning.
He also expressed satisfaction with near-completion works linking Bill Clinton Drive to surrounding communities, saying it would ease access in the area.
Wike added that development efforts extend beyond roads to water supply, schools, and healthcare facilities across satellite towns.
He also addressed recent water shortages, blaming damage to a key pipeline by a private developer, while assuring residents that repairs and further action were underway.
