Kaduna Community Denies Army’s Rescue Claim

Residents of Ariko in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State have rejected claims by the Nigerian Army that 31 abducted worshippers were rescued after an Easter attack.

Community leaders say the victims are still in captivity despite the military’s announcement.

The dispute followed an earlier statement by the Army that troops had foiled a terrorist attack and forced gunmen to abandon hostages after a pursuit operation.

The military said it acted on a distress call and engaged the attackers, recovering victims and bodies at the scene.

However, a community group insisted no rescue took place, stating that families are still in contact with the kidnappers. According to them, the abducted worshippers remain alive in captivity, contradicting the official account.

The group warned that conflicting reports could worsen anxiety among families and weaken trust in authorities. It urged security agencies to focus on securing the victims’ release while providing clear and verified updates.
