The move followed renewed violence around Jos, which has raised fears for student safety. State governments acted after reports of attacks in nearby communities, prompting urgent steps to protect their citizens studying in the city.

Benue accounted for the highest number with 600 students, while Nasarawa withdrew 545 and Lagos evacuated 230.

Adamawa removed 120 students, Bauchi 64, Cross River 37, and Delta 34, bringing the total to 1,630 affected students.

The evacuations reflect growing concern over security in Plateau and the impact on education.

With tension still high, more states may review the safety of their students as authorities face pressure to restore calm in the region.
