Abuja Residents Protest Tariff Hike
Residents of Abuja have raised concerns over what they describe as a sudden increase in electricity tariffs by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company without prior notice or consultation.
Many customers said they noticed a drop in the number of units received after purchasing credit for their prepaid meters, sparking frustration and confusion across different parts of the city.
According to residents, the change became obvious when the same amount of money began to yield fewer units than before, suggesting a possible adjustment in pricing.
The development has led to complaints from households already dealing with high living costs, as electricity remains a key expense for many families and small businesses.
Some residents are now calling on AEDC to explain the situation and provide clarity on whether there has been an official tariff review or adjustment.
