In Abuja, the Peoples Democratic Party faction led by Tanimu Turaki has taken its case to the Supreme Court after a ruling voided the party’s Ibadan convention.

The appeal challenges the earlier decision that nullified the exercise where the current leadership emerged.

The move followed a meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee, where officials backed actions taken after the court ruling.

Party spokesman Ini Ememobong said steps taken so far have been approved. The crisis began after the convention held in Ibadan last year.

Tensions deepened as another bloc, linked to Nyesom Wike, set up a caretaker committee to run party affairs.

The division led to legal battles, with courts giving differing positions on the leadership issue.

Despite the dispute, both sides have resumed talks aimed at resolving the crisis.

Party leaders say discussions are ongoing, though disagreements remain over plans for a fresh convention.
