Sanwo Olu Aides Quit Ahead Of 2027 Race
Six aides and commissioners under Babajide Sanwo-Olu are set to resign their positions to contest in the 2027 elections in Lagos State.
The officials, all members of the All Progressives Congress, plan to run for seats in the House of Representatives and the Lagos State House of Assembly during party primaries scheduled between April and May 2026.
Among those who have declared their ambitions are Kayode Roberts, Sola Giwa, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, Babajide Obanikoro, Lekan Balogun, and Damilola Ayinde-Marshal, with campaign posters already appearing across their constituencies.
Sources say more appointees are expected to join the race in the coming days as political activities gather pace ahead of the elections.
The move follows a directive by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requiring all political appointees seeking elective office to resign before March 31, 2026.
The aspirants are considered politically connected, with backgrounds in governance, law, and public service, positioning them strongly for the upcoming contests.
