Outrage Over Tinubu’s Timing Of State Trip

Former APC spokesperson Timi Frank has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his ongoing visit to the United Kingdom, describing it as insensitive in the wake of deadly bombings in Maiduguri.

In a statement, Frank said the timing of the trip—coming shortly after the attacks that left dozens dead and many injured—showed a lack of empathy for grieving Nigerians.

He accused the president and members of his delegation of engaging in ceremonial activities abroad while the country mourns.

He also directed criticism at the British government, alleging that its decision to host the visit reflects indifference to Nigeria’s security challenges.

According to him, the move raises concerns about the level of international attention given to the crisis.

Frank further questioned the absence of strong public scrutiny from global leaders, including King Charles III, on issues of insecurity in Nigeria during the visit.

The activist argued that the presence of top government and security officials on the trip, at a time of heightened insecurity, sends the wrong message and undermines public confidence.

He urged Nigerians to remain politically aware ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing the need for accountability and credible leadership.
