Court Adjourns El Rufai N1bn Case Against ICPC

A Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the hearing of a N1 billion fundamental rights suit filed by former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and other government agencies.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik adjourned the matter on Wednesday until March 25 to allow all parties in the case to complete and regularise their legal filings before the court proceeds with the hearing.

The former governor is seeking damages over the search of his Abuja residence by anti corruption officials and police officers in February.

He argued that the operation violated his constitutional rights, including personal liberty, dignity and privacy.

However, the anti corruption commission and the police have defended the operation, stating that it was carried out under a valid court issued search warrant as part of an investigation into a petition received against the former governor.
