The Academic Staff Union of Universities has announced plans to closely examine how funds allocated to public universities through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund are being managed.

The union said the move is aimed at ensuring greater accountability and transparency in the use of intervention funds provided to higher institutions across the country.

ASUU expressed concern over how some universities utilise the allocations, noting that the funds are meant to improve infrastructure, research and overall academic development.
The union added that scrutinising the management of the funds would help ensure that the resources are properly used to strengthen Nigeria’s public university system.
