The Nigerian government has begun moving its citizens out of Iran through the Armenian border as tensions grow in the Middle East.

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission confirmed the development on Tuesday, explaining that embassy staff were guiding those willing to depart from Iran.

According to NiDCOM, the evacuation is being coordinated by the Nigerian Embassy in Tehran.
Authorities also said that no Nigerian citizen in Iran has been harmed since the conflict began.
The evacuation follows rising hostilities involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which have disrupted travel across parts of the Middle East.
Nigerian officials said they remain at the border to receive evacuees while the government continues monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of its citizens abroad.
