Tinubu Opens More NYSC Slots
President Bola Tinubu has approved 50,000 additional mobilisation slots for the National Youth Service Corps in 2026.
The decision expands the number of graduates who can participate in the national service scheme across Nigeria.
The approval is aimed at easing the growing backlog of graduates waiting to be deployed after completing their studies in universities and polytechnics.
With the new slots, more prospective corps members will now have the chance to begin their mandatory national service.
Authorities say the move forms part of broader changes within the education and youth development sector.
The government has been working to improve how graduate records are verified while also strengthening the mobilisation process.
The expansion is expected to take effect during the 2026 mobilisation cycle.
Officials believe the additional capacity will help manage the rising number of graduates produced by higher institutions every year.
