Court Delays Malami Case Again

The Federal High Court in Abuja has postponed the alleged terrorism case involving former Attorney General Abubakar Malami and his son Abdulaziz Malami until March 10, 2026.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik fixed the new date after the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, sought more time to review the case file.

The prosecution explained that the matter was recently moved from the Department of State Services to the Department of Public Prosecutions, making it necessary to study the details before opening trial.

The development comes as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission continues separate proceedings against Malami, his wife Asabe Bashir and their son over alleged money laundering.
The defendants had earlier pleaded not guilty to a 16 count charge.
Following the reassignment of the case after two judges stepped down, the court directed that fresh bail applications be filed and ordered Malami and his son to be held in Kuje, while his wife was remanded in Suleja pending the hearing.
