Otti Rolls Out Cheaper Electric Bus Fares
Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that electric buses introduced by his administration will soon begin operating on a subsidised fare system.
He said the new charges will take effect within the next few days as the service moves into full operation.
The governor explained that commuters travelling from Umuahia to Aba will pay N800, while those heading to Ohafia will be charged N1000.
The fares, he noted, are lower than current transport rates on the same routes.
He said the initiative is part of efforts to ease the cost of movement for residents and provide a cleaner, more reliable public transport system across the state.
The electric buses are also expected to reduce fuel dependence and cut transport-related expenses.
The state government believes the move will bring relief to workers, traders and students who travel daily between major towns, as preparations continue for the official rollout of the service.
