The demonstrators gathered at the agency’s premises, demanding a review of the policy that restricts the production and sale of small-sized alcoholic drinks.

The protest followed renewed enforcement of the directive, which unions say threatens jobs and small businesses across the state.

They argued that many workers in distribution and retail could lose their livelihoods if the ban continues without a clear transition plan.

Union leaders insisted that the decision was taken without proper consultation with industry players and labour groups.

They called on the federal government and the regulatory body to suspend the move and open talks with stakeholders to find a balanced solution.

Officials of the agency maintained that the restriction is aimed at protecting public health, especially among young people.

Security operatives were present at the scene to maintain order as discussions around the policy continue.
