US Missions Close In Nigeria For Presidents Day
The United States Embassy in Abuja and Consulates in Lagos, Port Harcourt, and Kano will be closed on Monday in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Services at all missions, including visa and consular operations, will be suspended for the day.
Staff and visitors are advised to plan accordingly, as routine services and appointments will resume on Tuesday.
The closure aligns with the federal holiday observed across the United States, marking the birthday of former presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
The missions encouraged applicants and the public to check online platforms for updates and reschedule appointments if needed, stressing that security and emergency services will continue to operate during the closure.
Presidents’ Day is observed annually on the third Monday of February, with US diplomatic missions worldwide marking the occasion.
