Wike Sets Condition For Election Backing In FCT

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he will back only candidates who support President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming FCT Area Councils election scheduled for February 21, regardless of party affiliation.

He made the declaration on Saturday in Abuja during the 60th birthday celebration of Senator Sandy Onor.

Wike stated he owes no one an apology for prioritising support for candidates aligned with the President, stressing his commitment to ensuring that those opposing Tinubu do not succeed.

The minister framed this stance as part of his duty to promote leadership aligned with the President’s vision.

The birthday event celebrated Onor’s six decades of scholarship, leadership, and service.

Speakers, including former governors and senior public officials, described him as a trustworthy ally, a committed academic, and a leader with enduring impact on politics and society.

A commemorative book was unveiled in his honour during the ceremony.

Onor, reflecting on his 60th year, expressed gratitude for the support of his family, friends, and colleagues.

He highlighted the importance of character, excellence, and hard work while acknowledging faith as central to his life and achievements.
