Supporters of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso have floated a fresh political alliance that could reshape the 2027 presidential race.

The proposal pairs the former Kano governor with ex-Anambra State governor Peter Obi as a joint ticket.
The idea was put forward in Kano by the Kwankwaso Support Group 2027, led by Abba Gwale.
The group says the move is driven by growing frustration across the country over insecurity, rising hunger, and daily hardship faced by many Nigerians.
Backers of the plan believe the alliance could draw strength from Obi’s popularity in the South and Kwankwaso’s influence in the North.
They argue that bringing both camps together could form a broad coalition capable of challenging the ruling APC.
The group also pushed back against claims that Kwankwaso is seeking major political concessions from the APC.
It insisted that any discussions around positions are centred on protecting the interests of his supporters nationwide as talks over possible realignments ahead of 2027 continue.
