Eligibility Questions Trail Wukari VC Race Candidate

A pressure group has raised concerns over the eligibility of a contender for the vice-chancellor position at the Federal University, Wukari, in Taraba State.

The group claimed the issue involves a close relative of the state governor and could affect the integrity of the selection process.

The group, known as the Concerned Persons with Education Interest, alleged that Benjamin Kefas, brother of Governor Agbu Kefas, does not meet the requirements for the role.

It said efforts were being made to push his candidacy despite doubts over his academic standing.

In a petition signed by its national coordinator, Bulus Zakari, the group accused the governor of trying to influence the appointment.

The petition stated that the move was being pursued despite “a lack of necessary academic credentials for the office”.

The group called attention to what it described as a threat to due process in the university system.

It warned that ignoring established standards could weaken confidence in federal institutions and damage academic credibility.
