Shettima was received by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and top state officials.

His media aide, Stany Nkwocha, said the President instructed him to assess the situation directly and pass on federal condolences to families affected by the violence.

The attack happened on Tuesday night after militants allegedly tried to force residents to accept extremist teachings.

When the community resisted, the assailants reportedly carried out the killings.

The governor earlier said the victims were local Muslims massacred for refusing to submit to extremists preaching a strange doctrine, even as early figures pointed to more than 100 deaths.

The Vice President also delivered President Tinubu’s assurance that the government would pursue those behind the attack.

The President had condemned the assault as cowardly and beastly, confirmed the deployment of an Army battalion under Operation Savannah Shield, and called for stronger cooperation to support victims and bring the attackers to justice.
