PDP Fixes National Convention Dates
The Peoples Democratic Party has fixed March 28 and 29, 2026, for its National Convention, to be held in Abuja.
The decision was taken on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the 105th meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee in Abuja, according to a communique issued at the end of the meeting.
NEC unanimously ratified all resolutions reached at the party’s 104th emergency NEC meeting held on December 7, 2025, insisting that the decisions remain valid and binding under the PDP constitution, the Nigerian constitution, the Electoral Act, and existing court rulings.
NEC reaffirmed that the National Caretaker Committee, with Senator Samuel Anyanwu as secretary, remains the only lawful national administrative body of the party pending the conduct of the National Convention.
The caretaker committee was directed to release detailed guidelines for the exercises in line with party rules, INEC regulations, and court directives.
The party leadership was mandated to immediately set up convention sub-committees and begin full preparations to ensure an orderly and credible convention.
The communique was signed by Abdulrahman Muhammed, National Chairman of the National Caretaker Working Committee, and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary.
