Two members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Silvanus Nwankwo and Peter Abbey, have withdrawn support for the impeachment move against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.

The lawmakers made their position known on Monday in Port Harcourt, distancing themselves from the ongoing plan within the House to remove the governor from office.
Nwankwo, the Minority Leader representing Omuma State Constituency, and Abbey, who represents Degema State Constituency, said their decision was guided by concern for stability in the state.

They explained that continued political tension could worsen divisions and disrupt governance, urging their colleagues to consider calmer options instead of forcing the impeachment process.
The lawmakers called for dialogue and internal resolution, saying a peaceful approach would better serve the people of Rivers State and help prevent further political crisis.
