The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has removed the divisional officer in charge of its Fagge office in Kano State following the death of a suspect in custody.
The action was taken by the Kano State Command of the corps.
The incident happened at the Fagge divisional office, where the suspect died while being held by NSCDC personnel.
The development triggered concern and drew the attention of the state command.
The officer removed from office is SC Amina Musa Kolawale. The command also handed over all officers on duty at the time of the incident to the Kano State Police Command to allow a wider investigation and possible further action.
The Kano State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, approved the decision after a panel of inquiry was set up to examine the circumstances surrounding the death. The panel is expected to carry out a fair and discreet review of events.
CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar has been appointed as the new Divisional Officer at Fagge. The NSCDC said it remains committed to protecting lives, respecting human rights, and maintaining professionalism while the investigation continues.
