Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticised President Bola Tinubu in his New Year message, saying Nigerians suffered greatly in 2025 due to poor leadership and failed policies.
Speaking on Wednesday in a statement released to mark the new year, Atiku said the past year brought severe hardship, with families struggling under rising costs, weak purchasing power and worsening living conditions.
He blamed the situation on the Tinubu administration, accusing it of running the country without care for ordinary people and describing its approach as reckless and detached from reality.
Atiku said government decisions under the All Progressives Congress had deepened economic pressure, leaving many Nigerians feeling trapped, hungry and uncertain about the future.
According to him, policies introduced by the current administration have hurt businesses, increased poverty and widened the gap between leaders and citizens, turning Nigerians into victims of bad governance.
He urged Nigerians not to lose hope, saying the country deserves better leadership that puts people first and restores dignity, opportunity and fairness in the years ahead.
