Bandits attacked Owa Onire community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State on Saturday night, killing one resident, injuring several others and abducting two people, according to locals.

The assault happened on December 27, 2024, barely two weeks after two residents of the same community regained freedom after ransom payments, raising fresh fears among villagers.
Residents said the attackers stormed the town under the cover of darkness, firing shots and causing panic as families ran for safety while the gunmen carried out the killings and abductions.

Community members blamed repeated attacks on weak security presence, saying the small size of the town has allowed the violence to continue without enough public attention or pressure on authorities.
They also reported that insecurity has spread to nearby areas, with contractors working on the Oke Onigbin–Owu Falls Road recently kidnapped along the route near Oba Isin.
As of the time of reporting, the Kwara State Police Command had not issued an official response, leaving residents anxious and worried about what they described as a growing and unchecked threat to their safety.
