A High Court in Ijebu Ode has turned down an attempt by Fuji singer Wasiu Ayinde Marshall to halt steps toward installing the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

The ruling came on Monday when Justice A A Omoniyi declined an ex parte request asking the court to stop Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and others from continuing with the process.
The artist had approached the court through his lawyer, arguing that urgent action was needed to protect his rights and prevent further moves before the main case is heard.

The judge, however, held that such an order could not be granted without notifying the other parties involved, stressing that court rules require applications for injunctions to be filed with proper notice.
The court also noted that the application lacked key legal requirements, including a formal undertaking, and relied on established court decisions to refuse the request.
Following the ruling, the court fixed January 14, 2026, to hear the main case, leaving the Awujale installation process free to continue for now.
