Residents of Utako and parts of Wuye in Abuja were thrown into darkness after the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company reported a fault on its power network.
The outage happened on December 22, 2025, when a feeder supplying electricity to the affected areas developed a technical problem, cutting off power to homes and businesses.

AEDC confirmed that the disruption was linked to the faulty feeder used for distributing electricity in Utako and sections of Wuye within the Federal Capital Territory.
The company said engineers were immediately deployed to the area to fix the fault and restore supply, though no exact time was given for when electricity would return.
The blackout has caused inconvenience for residents, with many struggling to carry out daily activities and business operations due to the sudden loss of power.
AEDC appealed for patience from customers and advised residents to reach out through its customer care lines and official WhatsApp numbers for updates as repair work continues.
