Jigawa PDP kicks Against Lamido Suspension

The Jigawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the suspension of former governor Sule Lamido from the party’s Board of Trustees, saying the action sends the wrong signal to members and the public.

The party leaders spoke on Saturday in Dutse after the PDP BoT announced Lamido’s suspension over claims of anti-party conduct linked to the ongoing leadership crisis at the national level.
The Jigawa PDP said the decision affects the party’s image and unity, especially at a time when internal healing is needed ahead of future elections.
The state chairman, Babandi Gumel, described the move as unfair, arguing that Lamido only sought legal protection of his rights after being denied the chance to contest for national chairman, a matter already ruled on by a Federal High Court in Abuja.

He said suspending a founding member who has remained loyal to the party despite past challenges weakens internal democracy and discourages long-serving members.
The Jigawa PDP called on the Board of Trustees to reverse the suspension immediately, restore Lamido’s position, and focus on reconciliation to keep the party strong and united nationwide.
