Nigeria’s music star Davido has thrown his support behind the Super Eagles by placing a heavy bet ahead of the team’s first match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The wager was placed on Nigeria’s Group C clash against Tanzania, with the singer committing 25,000 dollars, valued at over 36 million naira, on both teams finding the net in the game.
He shared the betting slip online on Sunday, drawing attention as the potential payout stood at about 96,000 dollars, close to 140 million naira if the prediction comes through.
This move continues Davido’s public backing of the national team, even after losing a similar bet during Nigeria’s recent World Cup qualifying match against Gabon, where the Super Eagles were beaten.
The match will take place on Tuesday, December 23, at the Complex Sportif de Fes in Morocco, as Nigeria begins its chase for a fourth AFCON title against the Taifa Stars.
Despite mixed feelings among fans due to Nigeria’s World Cup setback, the Eagles head into the game as favourites, ranked far above Tanzania and carrying a strong record that keeps belief alive as the tournament kicks off.
