The attack happened earlier in the week when armed men ambushed the victim near his residence and later shot a farmer while escaping through nearby farmlands, triggering panic across the community.

Following the incident, the governor disclosed that a joint military-backed rescue and protection operation involving the army, police, DSS, and other security agencies has been ongoing for three days.

He explained that security forces are moving carefully to secure the release of the abducted victim and prevent further attacks, while also strengthening patrols in border communities vulnerable to spillover violence.

As part of new measures, the state will deploy refurbished armoured vehicles, add patrol vans, restore full Amotekun operations under closer police coordination, and urged residents to limit night activities as security efforts continue.
