Ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election in Osun State, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, Nigeria’s Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has called for unity among All Progressives Congress members and pledged full support for the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji.
The assurance came during a courtesy visit to Oyetola’s office in Oshogbo by the Chairman of the APC 2026 Osun Governorship Primary Committee, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Oyetola stressed that the APC in Osun State is more united than ever, describing the party as a cohesive family working to reclaim the state from the current administration. He credited strong leadership and strategic engagement across the state for the party’s growing strength and solidarity.
Under his leadership, the APC in Osun has reportedly attracted thousands of new members, including prominent politicians and serving federal lawmakers, who have defected from other parties to align with the APC’s vision.
He expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s ability to deliver effective governance and stressed that the party’s candidate selection reflects a focus on competence, integrity, and development-driven leadership.
Oyetola also commended the APC national leadership for forming a credible governorship primary committee, noting that the visit by Governors Okpebholo and Aiyedatiwa demonstrates the party’s commitment to internal democracy and serious preparation for the upcoming election.
