Osun APC Faces Growing Turmoil Ahead of 2026 Race

Tension is rising in Osun State as members of the All Progressives Congress clash over the screening of aspirants for the 2026 governorship ticket.

The dispute began after the party’s screening committee cleared only two contenders and ruled out the others, a decision that sparked anger among key stakeholders.

The disagreement deepened when several committee members distanced themselves from the outcome, insisting that they resisted pressure to force a predetermined result. Their pushback created confusion within the party and raised fresh questions about how the exercise was conducted.

The disqualified aspirants reacted with strong opposition, accusing those behind the process of trying to weaken the party ahead of the election. They argued that leaving out most of the aspirants could damage unity in a state where they believe the party must stand together to win.

The internal conflict spread quickly as party supporters in different blocs expressed frustration over how the screening was managed. Many insisted that the leadership must take urgent steps to prevent deeper cracks that rival parties could exploit.

The aggrieved aspirants have moved their case to the appeal panel, where they hope the national leadership will reverse the decision. They maintain that the screening lacked fairness and transparency and want the party to reset the process before it is too late.
