The Edo State Government has rejected reports claiming that a police officer attached to the Government House was involved in the illegal movement of firearms intercepted in Kogi State.

The report, published online earlier this month, alleged that Inspector Paul Elimwenga worked in the Government House. The governor’s spokesperson, Fred Itua, dismissed the claim, calling it misleading and urging the public to ignore it.

According to the state government, Elimwenga is not part of the Government House security team. Records from the Special Protection Unit Base 5 in Benin City show that he was posted to a private VIP residence in the GRA area, not the Government House. Security briefings also revealed that he abandoned his service rifle at his home and fled his duty post.
