The Anambra State Police Command has rolled out tougher security measures to protect schools and churches across the state.

The plan was announced on Sunday in a statement issued in Awka by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on behalf of Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu.

The new steps come as part of a wider push to prevent threats and keep learning and worship centres safe. The Police Command said the goal is to stay ahead of any risk and maintain a secure environment for residents.

As part of the new directive, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Teams have been ordered to increase patrols and ramp up intelligence-led operations. The police are also expected to deepen engagement with community leaders to improve coordination and quick response.
The Commissioner assured the public that the Command remains committed to protecting lives and property. He said the police will continue to adjust their strategies to match changing security challenges while working to preserve the calm currently enjoyed in the state.
