FCTA Begins Digital Promotion Exams For 8000 Workers

The Federal Capital Territory Administration will begin computer-based promotion exams for 8,000 workers on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The exercise will cover 165 cadres across the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority. The announcement was made on Sunday by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh.

The exams will run for five days at the National Open University Study Centre along Kubwa Road in Abuja. The schedule follows the minister’s approval to complete the 2024 promotion cycle and extend the process to all cadres as part of efforts to motivate staff and clear outstanding promotion delays.

The administration had earlier conducted its first computer-based promotion exam on August 12, 2025. Results released on August 26 showed that 49 deputy directors were elevated to director after the minister approved their promotion. That exercise was aimed at addressing the backlog of promotions for Grade Level 16 officers between 2023 and 2025.

In his latest statement, the FCT-CSC Chairman said the upcoming round of examinations continues the shift to a fully digital promotion system. He explained that the use of Computer-Based Tests is now a key part of the Administration’s process to modernise assessments and bring efficiency to the civil service.

Ezeh added that the minister’s directive ensures that every eligible worker across departments benefits from the updated system. He noted that the Administration is committed to maintaining a transparent and technology-driven approach in handling career progression.

The FCT authorities say all arrangements have been completed for the smooth conduct of the exams and that workers are expected to adhere to the schedule throughout the five-day assessment period.
