FCT Police Dismiss Attack Claim On Naval Officer At NNPC

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has denied reports that a naval officer was attacked during an operation along the Kubwa Expressway, describing the claims circulating online as false and intended to mislead the public.

According to the command, the issue began on November 16 around 6:15 p.m., when a patrol team stopped an ash-coloured Toyota Camry at the NNPC Junction in Kubwa. The officers said the vehicle had a concealed number plate and fully tinted windows, prompting a routine stop-and-search.

The police explained that the driver refused to identify himself and instead made several calls before winding up his windows. The standoff ended when three naval personnel arrived, introduced the driver as their colleague and recorded the scene before leaving. The police team then allowed the vehicle to move on and continued their operation without any confrontation.

The command said it was surprised to see the incident later presented online as an assassination attempt, insisting that nothing of such occurred and that the interaction was peaceful from start to finish.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, urged residents to cooperate with officers during lawful operations and avoid spreading unverified stories that may cause panic.

The command encouraged the public to report suspicious activity through its emergency contacts and assured residents of continued efforts to maintain safety across the territory.
